Dear Yuletide Writer

First of all, thank you so much for writing fic for me (smallearthcat on AO3). I'm sure I'm going to love whatever you write, and I hope you have fun with it. I don't know how much or little detail you're going to want from me, so I'm gonna try to put a few ideas out there for each of my requests. I'm totally not married to anything I suggest, take or leave what you will. I've also tried to outline a few general things below, to give you a better idea of what kind of fic I like.
So, general things. I tend to like types of fic that would generally end happily. I don't mind some angst if it's resolved by the end, but I'd prefer not to have anything too dark. I'm pretty easy on the rating scale; I'll happily read anything from the fluffiest gen fic to PWP, so go wherever you want with it. The list below is nowhere near comprehensive, so if there’s something else you’re feeling, go ahead and run with it.
Likes: happy endings, canon-based AUs, longfic, casefic, first times, fluff, crackfic, humor, fake/pretend relationships
DNWs: unhappy endings, darkfic, AUs that aren’t canon-based
Normally I don't bother with porn likes/DNWs, but I figured I'd list a few things out in case that's something you'd like to write. Anything that isn't on either list should be fine, too; I just can't list everything out, so am only doing the things I have strong feelings about. There's plenty else that I like as well and would be happy to read (and I feel like there should probably be other things on the likes list that I'm not remembering, so yeah).
Likes: sex toys (like seriously, any kind that doesn't veer into BDSM territory), voyeurism/exhibitionism, medical kink, video/phone/cyber sex, masturbation
DNWs: BDSM, breathplay, scat, necrophilia, bestiality, anything to do with vomiting or blood, daddy kink, foot fetish, non-con, A/B/O
And with that, on to my requests!
Common Law (TV)
Travis Marks, Wes Mitchell
So, Common Law. I’d sort of forgotten how much I loved this show until I rewatched it recently and fell in love all over again. I love how much it’s about the two of them and how they relate to each other, and how you can slowly start to see that change over the course of the season. I kind of adore antagonistic friendships like Travis and Wes’, especially because from the outside, you can see how well they complement each other when they’re in sync. I do definitely ship it, so shipfic would be awesome.
As for things I'd like to see, them working cases together is always awesome, because that’s when they seem to be at their best. I also find it interesting that even at their worst, they always seem to want to keep being partners, to the point where they both look sort of torn when either one of them works with someone else for pretty much any reason. It’d be cool to see something dealing with that, if you’re so inclined. I’d love something post-canon, with the two of them really starting to move beyond their issues, especially now that they’ve decided to continue therapy voluntarily. Or if you want to go pre-canon, them working their first case together or just getting to know each other in general would be cool. I’d love seeing the good days they had before things went downhill.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Ravio
A Link Between Worlds was such an unexpectedly delightful addition to the Legend of Zelda franchise. I loved all the throwbacks to other Zelda games, particularly Link to the Past, but one of my favorite additions was the Lorule storyline and its contrast with Hyrule.
Okay, so Ravio is a hell of an interesting character, being one of the very few from Lorule who are willing to help Link from the first time they meet. I love the juxtaposition between the way Ravio views himself (a coward, unable to do anything to save Lorule) and what his actions seem to indicate about him (he’s willing to cross over into an alternate universe to try to find someone who can save Lorule).
As far as prompts go, I’d love to see something post-canon, after Lorule’s triforce is brought back. What is Lorule like in the immediate aftermath, and what does Ravio do now that he’s back home? Or maybe something pre-canon, with things just steadily getting worse. How did Ravio come by all the items he sold to Link, and what pushed him to go to Lorule in the first place? Or if you want to do something set during the game, what does Ravio think about everything that’s going on? He spends a lot of time at Link’s place, but does he ever go exploring? What do he and Link talk about when Link is home during his down times? And if you wanted to do shipfic, I do ship Ravio with Link and would be happy to read that.
The Expanse Series - James S. A. Corey
Jim Holden, Joe Miller
I pretty much adore everything about this series. It’s got great worldbuilding, a really intriguing story, and characters that I love almost across the board. Holden and Miller some of my favorites, especially in their scenes together. I love that they always seem to have the same end goals, but they just have such different personalities and life experiences that the ways in which they do things have a tendency to clash. Kinda weird maybe, but I do ship it, so if you’re inclined to write that, please do.
So, for things I’d like to see. Maybe something that takes place during Leviathan Wakes, during the time when Miller is on the Rocinante with the crew? Something where he actually stayed with them rather than being kicked off the ship might be interesting in how it would impact later events. Or okay, I know Miller technically dies when he’s taken over by the protomolecule, but I also have something of a fondness for protomolecule Miller, so if you wanted to run with that, I’d love to see it. I mean, he does spend a good chunk of Cibola Burn basically in Holden’s head, which I have to imagine would be weird for both of them. In what ways does it affect either or both of them? Or if you want to go past current canon and bring Miller back in whatever form, that would be cool, too.
Wilde Life (Webcomic)
Oscar Wilde, Clifford Norman
Wilde Life is a great comic, and I find myself looking forward to the next new page as soon as I’ve finished with the current one. If you’re writing in this fandom, know that I’ll definitely be keeping up to date, so if something new that you want to write about comes up, feel free to write about it. I love the way the story unfolds a little bit at a time, with new supernatural beings with pretty much everyone Oscar meets.
The friendship between Oscar and Cliff is a pretty interesting one, not really seeming like it should work, except that it does. Cliff always seems surly any time he’s spending time with Oscar, but he also keeps coming back all the time. And Oscar seems almost to be humoring Cliff more than anything, except he always asks Cliff to tag along when he’s going somewhere and clearly cares that Cliff is doing all right.
Both of them have at least some ambiguity about their backgrounds, and if you wanted to touch on any of that, that would be awesome. I’d love to see them meeting other supernatural beings, and making friends or dealing with a threat, as the case may be. Or maybe a more in-depth look at the conversation that took place at the end of chapter 5; Cliff’s insecurity about being a werewolf and Oscar being in over his head with all the supernatural suddenly in his life were touched on, but briefly enough that it really left me wanting to hear more.
I do ship them, but definitely don't feel like you need to write that; I know the age difference thing is not for everybody. If you feel so inclined, I'd love to read it, and I certainly have no problem if you want to age Cliff up (though please don't age him down). And if you wanted to go with something unrequited, I’d be cool with that, too, though in that case, I’d prefer an ambiguous ending to heartbreak.
I'm looking forward to reading whatever you write, because I'm sure it's going to be awesome. Please feel free to take or leave any of my suggestions as you see fit; fics from exchanges tend to come out so much better if you're writing something you want to write. Have fun with it, and I'm sure I'll love it. :)
